Most people are aware alcohol is measured in units, but how many of us know the number of units in a drink, and how many of us keep a check on the units we drink?

Use the fact cards to find out how many units are in the following drinks:

  1. 568ml Pint of lager
  2. 275ml Alcopop
  3. 250ml glass of red wine
  4. 125ml glass of white wine
  5. 25ml measure of whisky
  6. 25ml measure of vodka & cola
  7. 25ml measure of tequila
  8. 25ml measure of gin & tonic

By adopting our top tips for responsible drinking you will be making positive choices about your drinking behaviour which will enable you to get more out of your day, week or weekend.

The recommended daily sensible drinking guidelines are 2-3 units for women and 3-4 units for men.

To work out how many units are in your drink, you need to know the volume of your drink and its alcoholic strength (or ABV). Multiply the % alcohol content by the volume of the drink, and divide by 100 if the volume is in centilitres (cl), or by 1000 if the volume is in millilitres (ml).
